Earlier today I worked on finishing up my landscape. I used a mix of both brands of oils Sennelier and Charvin. I believe I am almost finished with this piece. Just a few more highlights on the ground. I need to let this one dry a bit before I go back in to add a few touch ups.

Not a lazy Sunday for me.
So the other day I began to try out my new colors I bought a few weeks ago. I started with a few color wheels to see how they mixed. I liked the buttery consistency of the paints. I will have to buy more of these paints. I like them as much as the Sennelier brand of paints.

Back in the studio
After a few weeks away from the studio, I stepped into the place were I like to create and smiled. Being away due to the holidays and then a bout with upper respiratory infection for a week, today I feel a need to start up again. I look at the painting I started a few weeks ago and wonder to myself . I am not in the same mindset as before so I gradually ease into painting again. I go over the new tubes of oils I bought when I went home. I limited myself to not only replacing the paints I ran low on but also at the same time picked three basic colors, cadmium red medium, cadmium yellow medium, and cobalt blue, for a study I wanted to try. For me, when I go back home to stock up on paints for the next few months, I feel like a kid in a candy store. The array of colors is overwhelming for me and I want to try them all. This gets me into trouble because then I never end up using the colors or I use too much and my palette becomes "muddy" mess. Returning to my basic art foundation training from years ago, I want for myself to have a better understanding of the concept of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, as well as complementary and harmonious color juxtapositions.
